AldenLaw was founded in 1975 by John L. Alden, who has practiced in transportation and warehousing law for over twenty-five years. John's transportation clients range from local bus and motor carriers to the largest nationwide carriers, including specialized carriers of all types. He also represents shippers, warehousing companies and freight brokers, including small local operations and national firms. A fast-growing segment of clientele are shippers requesting guidance in the ever-changing transportation and logistics areas, as well as new motor carriers entering into business and existing carriers dealing with safety issues.
John Alden is joined by Anthony Palmer, a former Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Franklin County, who joined the firm in 2010. In addition to efficiently and cost-effectively assisting clients in compliance matters with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, Department of Transportation, Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, IRP and IFTA offices, as well as state agencies throughout the country, Tony represents commercial and non-commercial drivers in traffic matters, such as moving violations and accidents, in all courts throughout Ohio. Tony is proud to defend motor carriers and commercial drivers in PUCO and BMV hearings in commercial driver's license suspension cases, out of service violations, and vehicle inspection violations to protect our clients' business.
John Breen has practiced law since 1982 in Columbus, Ohio. Through early experiences in the attorney general's office until today, his practice has involved a broad array of litigation matters, ranging from local business disputes to multi state, multi-million dollar complex litigation cases. John's practice involves trial level matters in state and federal court, both locally and in other jurisdictions around the country, as well as appeals in the appellate systems. His practice includes transportation litigation, client representation before and against regulatory and government agencies, enforcement of non-compete and confidentiality agreements, real estate acquisitions and disputes, health care company representation, corporate purchases and sales, general corporate planning, and various other areas of corporate practice. He also provides general counsel to small businesses in Ohio and is United States counsel for a European publicly traded company.

We have assisted our clients in upgrading their federal motor carrier safety ratings issued by FMCSA and have been able to avoid FMCSA and PUCO alleged safety violations. We work with our clients on federal and state safety enforcement.
On behalf of our motor carrier clients, we have established independent business entities to separate hard assets and real estate from the operating company in order to maximize asset protection while allowing clients to take advantage of Ohio motor carrier tax exemptions.
In the face of growing cross-border trade, our office has registered trucking companies with U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Canada Customs Agency for the import and export of goods into and from Canada, resolved compliance issues with customs regulations of both countries, including electronic filing programs such as PARS and ACE.
